Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that today in Washington, during a joint meeting of the leaders of the United States, Ukraine, European countries, the EU, and NATO, the focus will be on shaping the future security architecture for Ukraine and Europe.
According to the presidential website, Zelensky discussed this during a meeting with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg.
“The head of state underscored that the joint meeting of the leaders of the United States, Ukraine, other European countries, the EU, and NATO is important, as it will focus on the future security architecture for our country and the entire European continent,” the statement said.

Talks involving Zelensky, other European leaders, and U.S. President Donald Trump, scheduled for today in Washington, were the main topic of his meeting with Kellogg.
“First and foremost, we are grateful to President Trump for this invitation and for the format that we will have. The signal regarding security guarantees is very important. It is very important that we stand together with the United States and Europe,” Zelensky said.
He also recalled that Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities continued overnight.
“Last night, Russian attacks on our cities continued – among those killed were two children, and dozens of people were wounded. People were simply sleeping when the Russian army launched strikes on the cities,” he wrote on Telegram.
Zelensky stressed that “Russia can only be forced into peace through strength, and President Trump has that strength.”
On Monday, August 18, Zelensky, together with several European leaders, will hold talks in Washington with Trump to discuss a peaceful resolution of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
