Russia continues daily assaults on ruined Vovchansk without success — military spox

This was reported on television by Oleh Sushynskyi, spokesperson for the Kharkiv operational and tactical group, according to Ukrinform.

“The situation in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector remains difficult. Over the past day, the enemy stormed our positions near Vovchansk, Kamianka, Hlyboke, and Ambarne. One of their main targets remains Vovchansk, where Russian forces attempt attacks almost daily, operating in small infantry groups of three to five soldiers, with active drone support,” Sushynskyi said.

According to him, Ukrainian forces continue to hold the northern bank of the Vovcha River, including the area around the aggregate plant.

“The enemy is making every effort and conducting constant assaults to push our units beyond the natural barrier of the Vovcha River, but they have not succeeded,” he assured.

Sushynskyi also emphasized that despite the complete destruction of Vovchansk, Russian forces have not abandoned plans to capture it.

“If Russian troops can’t take a settlement directly, they try to flank it. If they achieve success somewhere, they bring in reserves and attempt to advance further,” he explained.

Susynskyi noted that Russian forces are constantly rotating and reinforcing the units involved in assaults around Vovchansk.

“Right now, the enemy is deploying small infantry groups—just two or three soldiers—trying to infiltrate the aggregate plant and establish positions, mostly in the basements and ruins of the heavily damaged facility,” he said.

He added that shelling remains intense, with Russian troops actively using artillery and drones, which currently pose the greatest threat to the city.
