Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said he does not support the idea of holding negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Hungary.
He stated this on the social media platform X, Ukrinform reports.
“Budapest? Not everyone may remember this, but in 1994 Ukraine already got assurances of territorial integrity from the US, Russia and the UK. In Budapest,” Tusk said.
He expressed disagreement with the proposed location.
“Maybe I’m superstitious, but this time I would try to find another place,” he said.
U.S. President Donald Trump earlier said his administration was working to arrange direct talks between Zelensky and Putin aimed at reaching an agreement to end the war.
During a recent phone call between Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Hungary expressed interest in hosting the next round of negotiations between Zelensky and Putin.
