A draft law has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada proposing that Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 be permitted to leave the country during martial law.
MP Fedir Venislavskyi, co-author of bill No. 13685, confirmed this to Suspilne, as reported by Ukrinform.
He noted that the legislation continues President Volodymyr Zelensky’s initiative to ease travel restrictions for young men.
MP Oleksandr Fediyenko added that the government could implement this change by adopting a resolution regulating border-crossing rules during wartime. According to him, lawmakers introduced the bill because the government allegedly “refuses” to pass the necessary resolution.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers and military leadership to consider easing border-crossing rules for young Ukrainian men by raising the age threshold for travel restrictions from 18 to 22.
Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko stated on August 18 that the Cabinet could prepare a resolution allowing men under 22 to travel abroad as early as this week.
