Amid upcoming military exercises in Belarus, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned Belarus against “reckless provocations.
This is said in a statement published on the MFA website, as reported by Ukrinform.
The Ministry recalled that since 2022, the Republic of Belarus has been an accomplice in the crime of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“Minsk has provided the Russian occupiers with the territory of Belarus and its airspace to attack our state, and also continues political, military, military-technical, informational and other types of support for Russia in its unprovoked and criminal war of aggression against Ukraine. The cooperation between the regimes in Moscow and Minsk poses an immediate threat not only to Ukraine, but also to Poland, the Baltic states and all of Europe, and also hinders peaceful efforts of the United States President Donald Trump to end the war,” the MFA stressed.
In this context, the MFA calls on partners to remain vigilant, to increase sanctions and political pressure on Russia and Belarus, to jointly counter Russian propaganda and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, which protect Europe from the Russian threat.
“We remember the bitter experience and the price of the false statements of the Russian and Belarusian dictators. The build-up of Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine in 2021-2022 took place under the cover of the joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus ‘Zapad-2021’. We warn Minsk against reckless provocations, advising to remain prudent, not to approach the borders and not to provoke the Defense Forces of Ukraine,” the MFA stressed.
It is stressed that “Ukraine has never posed and will not pose a threat to the Belarusian people, with whom we strive to live in peace, having a common past that dates back to the Princely Era and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and a future in the European family of nations”.
As reported, military exercises are scheduled to take place in Belarus this September, including drills organized by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) such as “Interaction-2025,” “Search-2025,” and “Echelon-2025,” along with the joint Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise “Zapad-2025.”
