Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand has said that assisting Ukraine in repelling Russian aggression remains a strategic priority for Canada.

She announced this on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, Ukrinform reports.

She noted that Ukraine’s security is an integral part of global security, and that significant and well-coordinated military assistance to Ukraine continues to be a strategic priority. Anand added that Canada would continue to fully support Ukrainian society and the country’s reconstruction.

She stressed that Canada, together with its allies, would maintain and increase pressure on Russia’s war economy, and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting Ukrainians and their families by providing temporary shelter while the war continues. Anand also said that Canada would continue to honor the contributions of over 1.3 million Canadians of Ukrainian descent, who make an outstanding impact on the country every day.

On Ukraine’s Independence Day, she said, Canada celebrates the courage and hope that Ukrainians bring to the world and reaffirms its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
