War update: 174 clashes on frontline in 24 hours; Pokrovsk sector most intense

Yesterday, there were 174 combat clashes between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. The invaders put the most pressure on the Pokrovsk sector of the frontline, but they were also highly active in the Lyman and Novopavlivka sectors.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted a war update as of 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, on Facebook.

“In total, 174 combat clashes were recorded yesterday,” the report said.

According to updated information, the invaders carried out 67 air strikes, dropping 128 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the Russians used 4,807 loitering munitions and carried out 4,774 shelling attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

The aggressor carried out air strikes, in particular on the areas of the settlements of Stara Huta in the Sumy region, Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region, Havrylivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Bilohiria, Zaliznychne, Malokaterynivka, Omelnyk, Lukianivske in the Zaporizhzhia region; Virivka, Odradokamianka in the Kherson region.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian units repelled five attacks by the occupiers over the past day. The enemy also carried out six air strikes, dropping 11 guided air bombs, and carried out 179 shelling attacks, including five with multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 12 times near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Ambarne, and toward Kutkivka and Kolodiazne.

Eight clashes took place yesterday in the Kupiansk sector. Ukrainian defenders stopped the enemy’s assault in the areas of Synkivka, Holubivka, Kolisnykivka, Lozova, and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked 28 times. Russians tried to break through defense lines near the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Kolodiazi, Novoselivka, Zelena Dolyna, and in toward of Yampil and Serebrianka.

In the Siversk sector, the Defense Forces stopped five offensive actions by the invaders in the areas of Fedorivka, Hryhorivka, and toward Serebrianka.

Yesterday, 13 clashes were recorded in the Kramatorsk sector, with the occupiers attempting to advance in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and toward Stupochky and Predtechino.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out six attacks in the areas of Dyliivka, Toretsk, Rusyn Yar, and Oleksandro-Kalynove.

In the Pokrovsk sector, defenders stopped 43 assaults by the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Nykanorivka, Maiak, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Hrodivka, Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Chunyshyne, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Horikhove, and Dachne.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy carried out 19 attacks yesterday in the areas of the settlements of Yalta, Zelenyi Hai, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, and Komyshuvakha.

In the Huliaipole sector, there was an attack by Russians in the Malynivka area.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the aggressor’s troops made three futile attempts to advance on the positions of Ukrainian units.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the enemy’s offensive formations were noticed.

Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck five areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as two enemy artillery systems.

As Ukrinform reported, the total combat losses of Russian troops from February 24, 2022, to August 26, 2025, in the war against Ukraine amount to about 1,0778,300 soldiers, including 890 yesterday.
