Prominent civic and political figure killed in Lviv – police

Law enforcement authorities are investigating the murder of a well-known civic and political figure in Lviv.

The National Police of Ukraine announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

Operational groups from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, the Lviv Regional Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other concerned agencies are involved in investigating the case.

On Saturday, August 30, at around noon, police received a report via 102 about gunfire in the Sykhivskyi district of Lviv.

The victim died at the scene from sustained injuries. He has been identified as a prominent civic and political figure born in 1971.

Authorities are taking all measures to identify the shooter and determine their location. All details will be released in accordance with criminal procedural law.

According to sources from Suspilne, the victim was Andriy Parubiy, former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.

On July 19, 2024, Lviv saw the murder of Iryna Farion, a well-known linguist, political, and civic activist. Lviv’s Halytskyi District Court is currently reviewing the case against Viacheslav Zinchenko, suspected in her killing.
