On the coast of the Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park, the sea has brought many newts to the shore. Most of the animals are dead.
Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“Yesterday, our employees Natalia Brusentsova and Olena Staroverova recorded the first live and dead animals that came from the Dnipro. These are newts from the Red Data Book (the species will be specified). They do not live in our Tuzly Estuaries National Nature Park,” Rusev wrote.
The scientist noted that most of the animals found were dead. In addition to newts, the national park workers found frogs of various species.
“Those newts or frogs that were still alive immediately became food for seagulls, cormorants, herons, and land predatory mammals. The number of stranded animals within our park can be counted in tens of thousands,” Rusev said.
As reported, marine creatures living on the Black Sea floor may disappear in certain areas of the water area due to sea pollution after the Russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.
