UN adds Russia to list of shame for killing children in Ukraine

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Thursday that the UN added the Russian Armed Forces to a global list of offenders for killing and maiming children and attacking schools and hospitals.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to Reuters.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, also announced this on his Telegram.

“The UN put Russia on the list of shame for killing children in Ukraine,” he wrote.

Yermak noted that according to UN data, Russia killed 136 children in Ukraine in 2022. The Russian army also maimed 518 children, carried out 480 attacks on schools and hospitals, and used 91 children as human shields.

“Russia kidnaps Ukrainian children and continues to kill them in 2023. Putin is a war criminal, as are all his entourage, together with terrorists, commanders and executors of criminal orders,” Yermak stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, 489 have been killed and 1,026 injured in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion.
