The Swiss government, in partnership with Global Clearance Solutions, will supply the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) with three demining systems and provide training for personnel.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection, and Sports on Thursday.

“Humanitarian demining in Ukraine is a priority for Switzerland. The Swiss government has signed a contract with Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) to supply three demining systems to Ukraine. The recipient is Ukraine’s civilian State Emergency Service (SES). The delivery, including a training and mentoring program, is valued at 4.6 million Swiss francs,” the statement reads.

It was noted that GCS already has its own maintenance center and operational team in Ukraine, enabling effective training and use of the demining systems.

The partnership and delivery of the demining systems will be funded by a 100-million-Swiss-franc package allocated by the Swiss Federal Council on September 29, 2023, to support humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, an international Mine Action Conference is taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland, on October 17-18, with a high-level Ukrainian delegation led by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in attendance.
