North Korean forces use outdated Soviet tactics, obsolete for modern-day military operations, but they may still pose a problem given their numbers and motivation.
That’s according to Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, who spoke in an interview with war correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko, Ukrinform reports.
“They fight in line with Soviet tactics, they operate in platoons, companies. They take advantage of their numbers. War is different now, in today’s conditions, there’s drone dominance, sides fight in small groups, assault groups on a defensive, and when someone attacks from several directions, there is a platoon, a platoon of up to 100 people, and sometimes even more soldiers attacking, and they are quite brave, too. So, of course, this is an issue. We even lack munitions,” said Syrskyi.
He noted that this is about 11,000 to 12,000 fairly well-motivated and trained North Korean soldiers deployed to help Russia in its war effort against Ukraine. However, half of them have already been either wounded or killed in action.
