Operators of the 8th Regiment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine killed 21 and wounded 40 North Koreans who were attacking Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
According to Ukrinform, the command of the Special Operations Forces reported this in a Telegram message.
The offensive of the DPRK military, who are fighting on the side of Russia, was held back by the SOF operators together with friendly infantrymen of the Defense Forces for more than eight hours with small arms and grenade launchers. Snipers also worked.

At the ninth hour of the battle, the SOF group had only a third of their ammunition left. They spent the rest on destroying the enemy.
The SOF operators decided to exfiltrate, a military tactic for quickly removing a group from the battlefield to a safe place. The soldiers left in two Humvees in a coordinated manner.
As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian troops in Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to January 22, 2024 amounted to about 823,980 people, including another 1,950 people over the past day.
