Throughout January, the Russian army attacked Kyiv 13 times using kamikaze drones and launched one missile strike, resulting in five deaths and seven injuries.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

Tkachenko stated that Kyiv remains under constant enemy attacks, and this year has started with air raid alerts and casualties.

In January, air raid alarms were declared in Kyiv 60 times, amounting to over 60 hours of danger for city residents. Russian forces carried out 13 kamikaze drone attacks and one missile strike.

As a result of these attacks and falling debris, five people were killed, and seven others were injured, Tkachenko said.

Russian strikes caused damage in nearly every district of the capital, including three attacks in the Darnytskyi district, two attacks each in the Holosiivskyi, Desnianskyi, Pecherskyi, and Solomianskyi districts, and one attack each in the Dniprovskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.

Tkachenko thanked emergency services, municipal workers, and especially the military for their relentless efforts in protecting Kyiv and the country.

Besides missile and drone attacks, Russia has been trying to destabilize Kyiv through other means. In January alone, authorities received 940 bomb threat reports, including 785 in a single day.

“This is yet another attempt to spread panic and paralyze the city. But our response must be unity and efficiency. Despite the challenges, we continue working on critical decisions for the capital. Our top priority remains security and the stable functioning of Kyiv,” Tkachenko said.

A Russian ballistic missile strike in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district on January 18 killed a woman and two men.
