Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a meeting on the results of the Armed Forces’ operations in January 2025 and said that the number of units withdrawn to restore combat capability had slightly increased in January.

Syrskyi said this in a post on his Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.

“The situation is difficult, but we are fighting back with dignity. We continue to effectively destroy the enemy’s military targets in order to reduce its striking potential. We are destroying the enemy both on the territory of Ukraine and in Russia,” the Commander-in-Chief noted.

He said that the priorities include the operation in the Kursk region and the destruction of military targets deep in Russia.

The main efforts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are focused primarily on the steady holding of the borders and preventing the enemy’s advance, enhancing the training of servicepersons and increasing the unmanned component, Syrskyi emphasized.

Syrskyi informed that the development of units and subunits of the Land Forces, Air Assault Forces, Marines, and Unmanned Systems Forces is ongoing by increasing the number of unmanned systems in their composition.

“On the ground, we are first of all providing personnel and equipment to those units that are already engaged in frontline defense,” noted Syrskyi.

At the same time, according to the Commander-in-Chief, measures are underway to relocate and redeploy servicemen from non-combat to combat military units.

Syrskyi emphasized the need to improve recruitment efforts and strengthen the psychological stability of soldiers.

He added that adaptation measures for new recruits arriving from training centers should be carried out before they are deployed to combat missions, as the stability of the army depends on training and education.

“In January, we managed to slightly increase the number of units that will be withdrawn to restore combat capability. We have plans for the next period,” Syrskyi emphasized.

He noted: “We are taking into account the challenges of the time and working to strengthen the army even in the current difficult conditions.”

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the reform of the organizational structure of the Armed Forces is ongoing. In particular, measures have been taken to move towards a corps structure.

“February will not be easy for our troops, but the enemy will have a difficult time as well. I have assigned tasks to the relevant commands and military management authorities,” emphasized Syrskyi.

He noted that the enemy is not reducing the intensity of its attacks, and it is against this background that the tasks are being carried out.
