Between January 27 and February 2, the Russian forces attempted 17 assaults in the island zone of Kherson region.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Lieutenant Pavlo Drohal, Spokesperson for the Kherson Operational-Tactical Group (OTG), during a briefing.

“Attempts by small enemy groups to land in the island zone continue. A total of 17 assault attempts were recorded,” Drohal stated.

According to him, all offensive actions by the Russian occupiers were repelled by the Ukrainian defenders. The enemy suffered 120 casualties, both killed and wounded. Additionally, 48 pieces of military equipment and weaponry were destroyed or damaged.

The Spokesperson also reported that from January 27 to February 2, 2025, the Russian forces carried out 646 shelling attacks targeting the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions and civilian infrastructure. Furthermore, they launched two airstrikes and one missile strike.

Drohal added that during this period, within the operational area of the Kherson OTG, the Russian forces actively deployed various types of UAVs, including fixed-wing drones, FPV drones, and drones equipped with explosive payloads. A total of 1,761 drone operations were recorded, with 664 occurring within Kherson territorial community. Using electronic warfare systems and other countermeasures, the Ukrainian forces neutralized or destroyed 1,320 FPV drones, including 549 in Kherson territorial community.

The Russian forces continue efforts to establish a presence in the island zone at the mouth of the Dnipro River.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian troops remain on the left bank of the river.

In the fall of 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the right-bank part of Kherson region, including the city of Kherson. However, the left-bank part of the region remains temporarily occupied by the Russian forces.
