Irrecoverable and medical losses of the Russian troops in January reached 48,240 personnel, which is roughly equivalent to more than three motorized rifle divisions.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
“During the entire period of Russia’s full-scale invasion, only December 2024 saw higher losses, with 48,670 troops,” the ministry noted.
The intensity of combat on the front lines remained high in January, with a total of 5,087 recorded engagements.
During this period, Russian tactical aviation dropped more than 2,400 guided aerial bombs on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and frontline settlements.
The Ukrainian defenders destroyed 230 Russian tanks in January.
“Considering that a tank battalion consists of 31 vehicles, the enemy lost nearly seven tank battalions, both destroyed and damaged,” the ministry stated.
Additionally, Ukraine’s defenders destroyed 573 Russian armored combat vehicles —equivalent to nearly three motorized rifle divisions.
Over the course of the month, the Ukrainian forces also managed to destroy 963 Russian artillery systems, amounting to 50 artillery battalions.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated another 1,300 Russian invaders over the past day.
