Injury toll in Izium rises to 55, identities of three victims still unknown

The number of casualties from the missile strike on Izium, Kharkiv region, has risen to 55, with three of the five fatalities yet to be identified.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Preliminary data indicate the missile was an Iskander. The attack killed a 44-year-old man, a 69-year-old man, and two women along with another man whose identities are being confirmed. Among the 55 wounded, there are three children,” the statement said.

The missile strike partially destroyed the Izium Town Council building, damaged another administrative building, and shattered windows in three apartment complexes.

“Most of the injured are employees of the tax service, children’s affairs service, state enforcement office, medical college, and other institutions,” Syniehubov added.

Earlier reports confirmed five fatalities from the February 4 Russian ballistic missile strike on central Izium.

By 15:00, over 40 people were reported wounded, 24 of whom were hospitalized. Three remain in critical condition, including a 14-year-old girl. A six-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl are in moderate condition.
