U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that his administration is in contact with the Russian and Ukrainian leadership in order to stop the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine.

The U.S. leader stated this at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“We are having very good talks, very constructive talks on Ukraine and we are talking to the Russians, talking to the Ukrainian leadership,” Trump said.

He doubled down on his arguments that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if he were president. Trump also noted that he receives reports every week on losses from the Russian and Ukrainian sides, emphasizing that the real numbers are impressive.

“I want to see that end and I want to see an end for one simple reason — the life of young people being absolutely obliterated on both sides,” he said.

Trump expressed hope that the settlement process will be successful: “We’re having very good talks and I think we’re going to get it.”
