A combat readiness check is currently underway in certain units of Belarus’ armed forces, but this does not pose any threat to Ukraine.
This was stated during a briefing in Ukrinform by Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service (SBGS).
“A combat readiness check is being conducted in certain units and formations of the Belarusian armed forces, but this does not pose increased threat to Ukraine,” he said.
Demchenko mentioned that along the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, which stretches for over a thousand kilometers, border guards have not recorded any movement of equipment or personnel. Additionally, Ukrainian intelligence has not detected any strike formations positioned in the direction of the Ukrainian border.
However, some Belarusian units continue to be stationed near the Ukrainian border. The SBGS believes this may be an attempt by Belarus to show that Ukraine poses a threat to them.
As reported earlier by Ukrinform, on February 3, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced the start of a combat readiness check for the armed forces.
