Since the beginning of the day, 60 combat engagements have taken place along the front line, with intense fighting continuing in four sectors, primarily in Pokrovsk and Kursk.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, providing operational update as of 16:00 on Saturday, February 8, according to Ukrinform.
The Ukrainian defenders are actively disrupting enemy plans, inflicting significant losses on the Russian forces in both manpower and equipment.
The Russian forces continue to shell Ukrainian border settlements from their territory, striking Bila Bereza and Chuikivka in Sumy region.
In the Kharkiv sector, the Ukrainian troops repelled two enemy attacks near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk sector, three Russian assault attempts were stopped near Petropavlivka and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman sector, four attacks took place near Nove, Novoyehorivka, and Yampolivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy advances near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora. A Russian airstrike hit Makiivka.
In the Toretsk sector, the Russian forces launched four attacks near Krymske and Toretsk, with Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka suffering from airstrikes.
In Pokrovsk sector, the Russian forces launched 17 attacks attempting to dislodge the Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Pishchane, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka, Dachne, and Shevchenko. The Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 assaults, while five clashes remain ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka sector, five attacks occurred near Kostiantynopil, with two battles still raging.
In the Huliaipole sector, the Russian troops, supported by aviation, attempted an assault on Novopil, while airstrikes hit Huliaipole and Novodarivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, a Russian airstrike targeted Olhivske.
In the Siversk, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovske sectors, no Russian offensive actions have been recorded throughout the day.
In Russia’s Kursk region, the Ukrainian forces repelled 15 Russian attacks, while six clashes remain ongoing. Since the morning, the Russian forces have launched 18 airstrikes, dropping 26 guided bombs and conducting 309 artillery attacks on the Ukrainian positions and civilian areas.
The frontline situation remains largely unchanged in other sectors.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on the Toretsk front in Donetsk region, Ukraine’s 28th Brigade successfully destroyed a Russian Su-25 aircraft.
