Russian propagandists are spreading an edited video showing the alleged execution of a “Ukrainian serviceman” who was captured after trying to leave the unit without permission.

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

According to the Center, the video was shot in such a way that it was impossible to identify the place and actors, and the people in it behave unnaturally. All these are signs of staging.

Only propaganda resources are disseminating the video. There is no evidence that the incident could have actually taken place.

The Center emphasizes that it has repeatedly recorded similar staged videos, allegedly with the participation of “Ukrainian military”. According to the agency, the Krylia studio, which is affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as contractors involved in Novorossiya TV, are involved in the production of such fakes. Infrastructure is provided by agencies working with the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

“The purpose of such fakes is to discredit and demoralize the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the Center explains.

As Ukrinform reported, Russian propaganda spread a fake about the alleged issuance of summonses to men abroad and deportation to Ukraine.
