
As of the morning of February 15, no radiation leaks have been recorded at the site of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) and the New Safe Confinement (NSC).
That’s according to the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, Ukrinform reports.
“There has been no deterioration of the radiation situation at the NSC industrial site or at the ChNPP in general. There has been no release of radioactive materials beyond the established limits,” the agency stated.
It is reported that efforts to extinguish the fire on the outer cladding of the New Safe Confinement arch are ongoing. As of 07.00, 40 rescuers and 8 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The through destruction of about 15 square meters was recorded.
As reported, on the night of February 14, a Russian attack drone hit the protective shield covering the destroyed fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.
