Ukraine, UAE sign agreement on comprehensive economic partnership – Zelensky

Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates have signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which provides for the import of 99% of goods and products from Ukraine without paying customs duties.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced during an online press conference with Ukrainian journalists in Abu Dhabi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“An important document has been signed today by the officials of our countries. In our presence (of the leaders of Ukraine and the UAE – ed.), we signed a document, abbreviated as CEP (Comprehensive Economic Partnership – ed.). According to Vice Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and His Excellency, it represents a substantial liberalization of trade and economic relations between our countries. It will be the most liberal bilateral document in Ukraine, as 99% of all goods and products from Ukraine will enter the UAE market duty-free,” he said.

Zelensky informed that there may be restrictions on some products under quotas, but overall, products from Ukraine will be imported duty-free. This agreement will be followed by a series of bilateral meetings, including a ministerial meeting which is already underway. In addition, a large delegation of UAE business representatives is scheduled to visit Ukraine.

The President noted that the UAE is interested in Ukrainian agricultural products, port concessions, and infrastructure issues. In return, Ukraine has a significant interest in artificial intelligence, which can be applied in various fields, including public administration and business.

As Ukrinform reported, President Zelensky arrived in the United Arab Emirates on an official visit the day before.
