Leaders of the European Union are preparing together with Ukraine for emergency meetings convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

This was stated by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I am definitely not worried about Europe. We prepare for all summits together. You are aware of the leaders’ summit that took place in Paris. At the time, the President (Zelensky) was away on a business trip, but both before and after it, he had conversations with President Macron. There were also bilateral meetings on the sidelines of Munich,” she said.

Commenting on the possible appointment of an EU special representative to negotiate with the United States, Stefanishyna said it was too early to discuss specific positions. According to the deputy prime minister, it is necessary to “wait and see how events in the United States develop.”

As reported, on February 17, the heads of government of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark met at the Élysée Palace. They were joined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and European Council President António Costa.

An emergency meeting of EU leaders in Paris on Monday confirmed that Ukraine “deserves peace through strength.”
