Ukraine and the Republic of Türkiye are planning to expand agricultural trade cooperation, and a corresponding meeting is being prepared at the level of ministries, agencies and business representatives.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
As part of the visit to the Republic of Türkiye, Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Vitalii Koval met with Turkish Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı.

The parties discussed expanding trade cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector. As noted by Koval, the Ukrainian side is preparing a corresponding meeting at the level of ministries, industry-specific associations and business representatives.
“Ukrainian producers are interested in exporting great and small cattle to the Republic of Türkiye and neighboring countries. Together with İbrahim Yumaklı, we discussed challenging veterinary issues, which are important for us to agree on, so that Ukrainian producers could supply their products there. Developing the correct mechanism for meat exports is an important matter,” Koval mentioned.
Among other things, Koval spoke about Ukraine’s vegetable storage needs. Currently, 35% of the vegetable produce is lost due to the lack of proper storage conditions. In this regard, Koval called on the Turkish side to join the development of a vegetable storage network in Ukraine.

In addition, Koval thanked Türkiye for its participation in the Grain From Ukraine humanitarian initiative, which helps African countries to receive Ukrainian grain shipments. Special attention was paid to assistance provided to Syria. In addition to flour, they greatly need wheat, oil and sugar. The representatives of Ukraine and Türkiye discussed future cooperation in this area.
A reminder that Ukraine is ready to expand cooperation with the Republic of Türkiye on the agricultural market, namely in the livestock sector. Last year the Ukraine-Türkiye agricultural trade turnover alone reached USD 2.2 billion. Ukraine exported USD 1.6 billion worth of products to Türkiye. The most popular exports included Ukraine’s traditional agricultural crops, such as corn, soybeans, as well as sunflower oil, sugar, etc.
