Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has proposed that Ukraine join the European Union before January 1, 2030.

Speaking at the “Support Ukraine” summit in Kyiv on Monday, Nauseda emphasized that the time for leadership is now, urging Europeans to take full responsibility for their security, which is directly tied to Ukraine’s security, Ukrinform reports.

“Therefore, let us accelerate Ukraine’s European Union accession. I suggest a target date for accession — January 1, 2030. The opening of the first negotiation cluster could be done in the coming weeks. Let us make Ukraine’s European Union membership irreversible,” Nauseda said.
