French President Emmanuel Macron believes that Trump’s meeting with Zelensky and the signing of an important agreement for the two countries will help move towards peace.
He told reporters about this after a conversation with the American president in Washington, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“First of all, I welcome your decision to meet with President Zelensky and finalize this important agreement for the United States and Ukraine on critical minerals and rare earth elements,” he said to the American leader.
According to Macron, it is very important to have an exchange of views with President Zelensky at this stage, as it will testify to the common will to conclude a lasting peace.
“The agreement that you are going to sign with Ukraine and the very clear discussion we had on this, in my opinion, are reliable guarantees that we understand each other and that our will is the same. Peace as soon as possible, a lasting and durable peace for all and reconstruction,” Macron emphasized.
He believes that in this way it will be possible to establish responsibility.
“It will allow us to offer everyone their responsibilities, within this framework, the Europeans will assume their responsibility together with their American ally, who will assume his,” the French president said.
As Ukrinform reported, US President Donald Trump said he might meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week or next week.
