As a result of a Russian nighttime drone attack in the Kyiv region, Ukrinform journalist Tetiana Kulyk, author and host of the Nation of Invincibles project, who served as editor-in-chief of the Main Multimedia Editorial Office, was killed.

Tetiana Kulyk was a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Previously, she worked as the editor-in-chief of the public affairs program department and a presenter at the Central Channel (KDTRK), the World Service of Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, and a TV presenter at Public Broadcasting.

She studied at the National University of Culture and Arts. She started her career as a literary editor. In 2015-2017, she was the deputy director of Khreshchatyk, 26, a branch of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine, Kyiv Regional Directorate.

The staff of Ukrinform expresses its sincere condolences to Tetiana’s family; her untimely death shocked her colleagues and was a huge loss for the agency.

“Tetiana Kulyk was a great journalist, she made many programs about our struggle and our heroes. Yesterday we were talking about preparing an interview with Kyrylo Budanov. She will always remain in our hearts and in our memory. We will avenge our colleague with materials that expose the war crimes of the aggressor. And, as Kyrylo Budanov said in this interview, all the executioners of the Ukrainian people will definitely be punished,” said Ukrinform Director General Serhiy Cherevaty.

It is worth recalling that more than ten years ago, on the night of September 4, 2014, at the very beginning of the ATO, Ukrinform journalist Oleh Zadoianchuk was killed by enemy shelling near Luhansk.

On April 5, 2024, during a Russian missile attack in Zaporizhzhia, Ukrinform correspondent Olha Zvonariova sustained severe injuries to her limbs. Despite this, the journalist quickly returned to work, even with her leg still in a plaster cast. At the end of last year, she received a state award, the Order of Merit, which was awarded by Presidential Decree on June 28, 2024.

It should be noted that journalists are currently working in Ukraine under conditions of increased risk. The media record the events of the war to provide Ukraine and the world with reliable information about what is happening, in fact, documenting evidence of the crimes of the Russian occupiers. Russia’s systematic crimes against journalists and the media in Ukraine pose a serious threat to freedom of speech and information security, undermining democratic values and human rights.

As reported, the series of interviews “Nation of the Invincibles” about the strength of spirit and invincibility of Ukrainians during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war began to be broadcast in October 2024. The guests of the studio were, in particular, singer Oleh Skrypka; Stanislav Dekhtyar, a veteran of the 24th separate assault battalion “Aidar”; human rights activist, coordinator of groups of families of prisoners of war and missing persons of the Media Initiative for Human Rights Olena Belyachkova, and others.
