Trump talking about expectations from meeting with Zelensky

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he expects to have a “very good” meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing that he respects the Ukrainian leader and has a “great understanding” with him.

He made this statement during a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“Tomorrow the progress towards peace will continue when President Zelensky visits the White House,” the U.S. President noted.

Trump underscored his respect for the Ukrainian leader and their strong mutual understanding.

“He (Zelensky – ed.) will be here tomorrow in the early part of the day and will be signing a historic agreement that will make the United States a major partner in developing Ukraine’s minerals, rare earths, and oil and gas,” the American leader emphasized.

He noted that he has a “great understanding” with Volodymyr Zelensky and expects the signing of the agreement to be beneficial for the Ukrainian nation.

He also stressed that the United States has paid far more than any other country in aid to Ukraine. According to him, the agreement will help return the American taxpayers’ money that was previously spent.

Additionally, Trump emphasized that the minerals agreement will provide the basis for more sustainable future relationship between the United States and Ukraine and thus “will stimulate long-term prosperity that will help the Ukrainians rebuild their country.”

As reported by Ukrinform, on Thursday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. At the beginning of the meeting, both sides confirmed that the Ukrainian issue remains one of the key topics on the agenda.
