Europe must be strong, and therefore ready to put money and weapons on the table to ensure security on the continent.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala stated this on X before leaving for a summit of European leaders in London, Ukrinform reports.

“Europe must assume responsibility for its own security, with our ultimate goal being a just and lasting peace—one that cannot be circumvented or called into question,” the head of the Czech government wrote.

Therefore, in the prime minister’s opinion, two things must be done. First is to provide even greater military support to Ukraine and ensure its long-term strength. At the same time, Europe must focus on strengthening its economy, competitiveness, defense, and security. This means, for example, increasing defense spending to at least 3% of GDP and bringing the size of European defense investments closer to those of the United States.

“Europe must be strong. Strength means the ability to put money and weapons on the table,” Fiala stressed.

He noted that he was flying to London for a summit of “nations that take Europe’s security seriously”.

As reported, on Sunday, March 2, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will convene more than a dozen European leaders to address the situation of aid to Ukraine.
