The rotation of IAEA monitors at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant through the Russian-controlled territory is an attempt to exclude Ukraine from the process of ensuring safety at the facility.

Ruslan Karykov, CEO of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, stated this at a press conference on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“This is a provoked political and terrorist act. This is being done to remove Ukraine from the process of ensuring the plant’s safety,” Karykov said.

He noted that such an incident is the first step in depriving Ukraine and the international community of truthful information about the actual situation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Karykov emphasized that the rotation of the IAEA mission must be done exclusively through the territory of Ukraine.

As reported, on March 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent a note of protest to the IAEA leadership in connection with the rotation of the agency’s observers from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant through the occupied territories.
