Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has responded to Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine, stating that they are a direct consequence of policies aimed at appeasing the aggressor.
He shared his reaction on social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.
“This is what happens when someone appeases barbarians. More bombs, more aggression, more victims. Another tragic night in Ukraine,” Tusk wrote.
Starting at 20:00 on March 7, Russia launched an extensive attack on Ukraine using two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and an Iskander-K cruise missile fired from the Rostov region. Additionally, they deployed 145 Shahed attack drones and various other UAVs launched from multiple locations, including Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda in occupied Crimea.
As of 09:00 on March 8, Ukrainian air defense had intercepted an Iskander-K missile and 79 drones over the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions. An additional 54 enemy decoy drones failed to reach their targets, without causing any damage.
The attacks caused significant destruction in the Donetsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa regions.
On the evening of March 7, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault on the city of Dobropillia, using Iskander-M missiles, Tornado-S multiple rocket launchers, and Geran-2 drones. Initial reports confirmed 11 fatalities and 33 injuries. The Donetsk region declared a day of mourning for the victims.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas commented on the recent Russian strikes, stating that President Vladimir Putin has once again demonstrated his complete lack of interest in peace.
