Ukraine signs agreement with IRIS-T manufacturer to triple air defense system and missile supplies

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has signed an agreement with German defense company Diehl Defence, the manufacturer of the IRIS-T air defense system, to triple the supply of these systems and their missiles.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the agreement on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

“We have signed a memorandum of understanding with Diehl Defence, the manufacturer of the IRIS-T system, which is a crucial part of Ukraine’s air defense shield,” Umerov said.

He also added that “protecting Ukraine’s skies and cities is our priority.”

According to Umerov, the signed agreement paves the way for major industrial projects that will enhance the capabilities of Ukraine’s air defense. The memorandum also provides for a threefold increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems.

The minister expressed gratitude to Diehl Defence for their trust and willingness to cooperate.

“It is important that leading global defense companies are taking steps toward Ukraine. The free world stands with us, and together we are creating new opportunities to strengthen our defense,” Umerov said.

He also added: “We continue to develop Ukraine’s defense industry and integrate it into the European ecosystem.”
