SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said he would never turn off Starlink satellite communication terminals for Ukraine.
He wrote about this on Sunday on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
“To be extremely clear, no matter how much I disagree with the Ukraine policy, Starlink will never turn off its terminals,” Musk said.
He also reiterated his view that “without Starlink, the Ukrainian lines would collapse, as the Russians can jam all other communications.”
“We would never do such a thing [disconnecting Starlink] or use it as a bargaining chip,” Musk added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that Poland pays for Starlink terminals for Ukraine and the subscription fee for them, and if SpaceX turns out to be an unreliable supplier, Poland will look for another.
This is how he reacted to Musk’s comment on social network X, where he emphasized that the Starlink system is “the backbone of the Ukrainian army” and if this satellite connection is turned off, “the Ukrainian front would collapse.” Musk also emphasized that he is “against a stalemate in which Ukraine will inevitably lose.”
In turn, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio replied to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski that no one threatened to disconnect Ukraine from Starlink terminals.
