Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has defended Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who was criticized for his posts on social media by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and SpaceX owner Elon Musk.
In a post on the X network, Tusk wrote that true leadership means respect for smaller partners and allies, Ukrinform reports.
“True leadership means respect for partners and allies. Even for the smaller and weaker ones. Never arrogance. Dear friends, think about it,” Tusk wrote.
As reported, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on social media that Starlink terminals for Ukraine and the subscription fee for them are paid by Poland. If SpaceX turns out to be an unreliable supplier, Poland will look for another.
This is how he reacted to Musk’s comment on social network X, where he emphasized that the Starlink system is “the backbone of the Ukrainian army” and if this satellite connection is cut off, “the Ukrainian front would collapse.” Musk also emphasized that he is “against a stalemate in which Ukraine will inevitably lose,” calling for “immediate peace.”
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski that no one threatened to disconnect Ukraine from Starlink terminals. He added that the head of Polish diplomacy should “say thank you, because without Starlink, Ukraine would have lost this war long ago and the Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.” Musk did not mince his words any further. In his commentary on Sikorski’s post, he called the head of Polish diplomacy a “little man” and urged him to “sit tight,” emphasizing that Warsaw pays a small part of the amount and that there is no replacement for Starkink terminals.
Afterward, Sikorski thanked Secretary of State Marco Rubio for ensuring that the United States would not disconnect the Armed Forces from the Starlink terminals.
