High enemy activity is currently recorded in Luhansk region. Most of the assault actions are taking place in the Toretsk sector.
The spokesman for the Luhansk operational and tactical group Dmytro Zaporozhets said this on television, Ukrinform reports.
“The enemy’s activity was high yesterday. Last week, for example, there were 42 combat engagements, 20 in the Siversky sector, 18 in the Toretsk sector, and 4 in the rest. The enemy is active not only in assault operations, but also in the use of artillery, as well as in the use of tactical aviation against Kostiantynivka. It is also hitting the settlements such as Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka,” said Zaporozhets.
According to the spokesperson, the situation in each of the three areas is different. For instance, artillery activity in the Toretsk sector has decreased and the number of offensive actions has increased. Also, according to intelligence, there is information that some units of the 150th motorized rifle division of the Russian occupation forces have been redeployed to this sector from Kurakhove, as well as some units from the Pokrovsk sector are joining the assault operations in the Toretsk sector, the spokesman noted.
“Most of the assault actions are taking place in Toretsk. The situation in the Chasiv Yar or Kramatorsk sector has changed in such a way that the enemy has been actively amassing and one of the political goals was to capture the city by March 1. The last major assault with the use of equipment was on March 6, and now the enemy is actively amassing forces for assault operations again, and artillery shelling is increasing during this period,” said the spokesman.
He did not rule out that the commander of the 98th Parachute Division would be dismissed for failure to comply with the political decision of the Russian command to capture Chasiv Yar.
Zaporozhets also noted an increase in artillery shelling. Thus, if the other day there were less than 150 artillery attacks per day, then over the past day – 237.
Informing on the situation in the Siversky sector, the spokesman said that a large number of personnel are involved in assault operations.
“As for the Northern sector, a large number of personnel are usually involved in assault operations. For example, yesterday, 21 armored vehicles, 24 armored personnel carriers, 3 tanks, light vehicles, and BAGs were used against various units. And the tactics there are more massive and involve more equipment,” Zaporozhets added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the Luhansk Military Industrial Complex Artem Lysohor said that the Russian military equipment manufacturer uses the potential of the industrial enterprises of the so-called “LPR” to fulfill defense orders of its army.
