The key topic of discussions between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel was strengthening defense cooperation and increasing military support for Ukraine.
Sybiha said this at a joint press conference with Rangel in Kyiv on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The focus of our talks was further military support for Ukraine. In this context, we discussed enhancing defense cooperation, the supply of military equipment and resources, as well as Portugal’s participation in coalitions aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s [defense] capabilities,” Sybiha said.
He emphasized the urgency of increasing aid to Ukraine, stressing that the unity of allied nations is crucial for the future of Europe and the continent’s security architecture.

Sybiha also briefed his Portuguese counterpart on the outcomes of the recent Ukraine-U.S. meeting in Jeddah and expressed gratitude for Portugal’s support in Ukraine’s pursuit of a just peace.
“We also welcome Portugal’s willingness to consider various ways of participating in the development and implementation of security guarantees for Ukraine,” the minister added.
The two diplomats also discussed Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and agreed to leverage Portugal’s ties with Portuguese-speaking countries to deepen dialogue with African and Latin American nations.
On March 14, Sybiha also held talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
