On Sunday, March 16, the Armed Forces of Armenia allegedly opened fire on Azerbaijani army positions with small arms.

That is according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, as reported by AZERTAG and relayed by Ukrinform.

The attack reportedly occurred around 9:45 local time, from Armenian positions near the village of Dyg in Goris region. However, no further details were provided by Azerbaijan’s defense ministry.

In response, the Armenian Ministry of Defense denied the accusations, stating that Azerbaijan’s claims do not reflect reality.

Armenia also reiterated its proposal to establish a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations, but Baku has yet to respond to this initiative.

As reported, on March 14, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that achieving a ceasefire does not mean the war is over, as true peace would only come after a signed peace agreement.

Earlier, on March 13, Azerbaijan and Armenia concluded negotiations on the text of the peace treaty, but tensions remain high.
