The idea of deploying a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine to monitor the ceasefire is already in the implementation stage with countries that are ready to send their military contingents.

This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.

“We already have a clear list of countries willing to deploy their troops as key elements of the future security guarantees system. We are now at the stage of discussing the details – geography, number of forces, and mandate. On Saturday, March 15, a summit of this coalition took place, hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer with the participation of President Zelensky. There is also constant coordination through Andrii Yermak and national security advisers. So, this is no longer an abstract idea but a process that is being implemented,” said Sybiha.

He added that the United States’ support for the mission is critically important.

“We need America, we need American involvement and American leadership,” emphasized the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.

Commenting on the repeatedly voiced categorical opposition of the aggressor country to the idea of deploying a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister stressed that “we will do everything that corresponds to our national interest and truly guarantees Ukraine’s security in the long term.”

“We are not satisfied with merely the absence of hostilities. Peace is not just the absence of war. We are talking about a stable, long-lasting, and just peace, with the prevention of renewed Russian aggression in the long-term perspective. That is exactly what our efforts, together with our allies, have been focused on. We now have a clear, solid coalition, meaning Ukraine is not alone,” the minister emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, following a virtual meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, stated that around 25 leaders of allied countries agreed on Saturday to continue strengthening restrictions on the Russian economy to force Vladimir Putin to come to the negotiating table and end the war against Ukraine.
