U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that during negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, it is already possible to talk about achieving the “confines of a deal” for a peaceful settlement.

He told this to journalists at the White House on Friday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“I’ve been having very good discussions, as you know, with President Zelensky and President Putin. And President Putin will tell you that without the United States he wouldn’t be worried, but he is worried when the United States is involved [in the negotiation process],” Trump said.

He emphasized once again that he had dealt “very well” with “both gentlemen,” referring to the Ukrainian president and the Russian leader.

“And I think we have the confines of a deal. I hope we have the confines of a deal,” Trump said.

He also reiterated his desire to stop the killing of Russians and Ukrainians and also expressed his intent to recover the funds that the Biden administration spent on supporting Ukraine, once again citing the figure of $350 billion.

The current U.S. administration has been actively working in recent weeks with both Ukrainian and Russian representatives to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On March 11, a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Ukraine expressed its willingness to accept the U.S. proposal for an immediate, temporary 30-day ceasefire, provided that Russia also implements it simultaneously.

On March 13, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff visited Moscow, where he met with President Putin. The Kremlin stated that Putin had conveyed “additional information and signals” to Trump through Witkoff.

On Tuesday, March 18, Trump held a phone call with Putin. The White House reported that Moscow had agreed to halt attacks on energy and infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

On Wednesday, March 19, Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Zelensky. The U.S. administration emphasized that Trump intends to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.
