On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the staff of the special service and awarded its employees with state awards.
This is stated in a statement by the SSU, Ukrinform reports.
“During the years of this war, the SSU has become a truly combat special service, very effective, very strong. Exactly what our state needs. The SSU soldiers are involved in all areas of defense – from Kursk and Kharkiv regions to all the hottest spots of the front in Donetsk and southern Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

In particular, the President noted the SSU’s combat results on the battlefield, in the enemy’s deep rear and in the battle for the Black Sea. Thus, the special service, together with other Security and Defense Forces, destroyed and flooded a significant part of the Russian fleet using surface drones. As a result, this forced the enemy to hide its warships in the bays of Novorossiysk, as well as to move from ultimatums to the need to negotiate security in the Black Sea, the Head of State emphasized.
“I would also like to note the efforts of the Security Service of Ukraine in protecting the internal situation in our country – it is countering Russian saboteurs, agent networks, various operations, including cyber operations, of Russia against Ukraine in the rear. Each such foiled operation means saved lives of Ukrainians. Thank you!” Zelensky said.
For his part, SSU Head Vasyl Malyuk noted that during the war, the special service has come a long way in terms of changes and transformations, having tempered its spirit and gained invaluable combat experience.
“Today, the list of tasks of the Security Service is very wide: from destroying the military potential of the Russian Federation to countering terrorism on the streets of Ukrainian cities and villages. We firmly hold every section of the frontline together with our colleagues from the Defense Forces, because the lives and safety of citizens are behind us,” Malyuk emphasized.
The President presented state awards to the SSU employees. All those present observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine.
As Ukrinform previously reported, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Security Service of Ukraine has exposed 102 Russian agent networks.
