War update: 96 clashes on frontline over past day, most intense fighting in Pokrovsk sector

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, sharing operational information as of 08:00 on Monday, April 21, according to Ukrinform.

According to updated information, yesterday the Russians carried out 1,882 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 33 from multiple rocket launch systems. They also used 957 kamikaze drones for strikes.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces rocket and artillery units struck a cluster of enemy’s personnel, weapons, and military equipment, as well as an enemy artillery system.

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian troops made one attempt to breach the Ukrainian defensive lines near the village of Krasne Pershe.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces attacked near the village of Holubivka.

In the Lyman sector, the Russians attacked 12 times, attempting to break into the Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Nadiya, Myrne, Hrekivka, Katerynivka, Nove, and Yampolivka.

In the Siversk sector, Russian forces made three attempts to advance near Bilohorivka and Ivano-Darivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops attacked five times near Chasiv Yar and towards the areas of Stupochky and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy launched 10 attacks near Druzhba, Toretsk, and Leonidivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 39 assault attempts by Russian forces near the settlements of Sukha Balka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Uspenivka, Preobrazhenka, Andriivka, and Rozlyv.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Russian troops carried out five attacks near Kostiantynopil, Skudne, and towards Odradne.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russians made four assaults on the Ukrainian positions near Mala Tokmachka, Mali Shcherbaky, and Stepove.

In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovske sectors, no combat clashes were recorded over the past day.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the enemy forming offensive groups were observed.

In Russia’s Kursk region, there were 184 shelling attacks over the past day, 17 of which involved multiple rocket launchers. The Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 enemy assault attempts.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, up to April 21, 2025, amount to approximately 941,770 personnel, including 670 in the past 24 hours.
