More than 80 people were wounded and nine killed across Ukraine as a result of a massive Russian missile and drone attack during the night of April 24. Russia launched around 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and nearly 150 drones.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“It has been 44 days since Ukraine agreed to a full ceasefire and a halt to strikes. This was a proposal from the United States. And it has been 44 days of Russia continuing to kill our people and evading tough pressure and accountability for its actions,” Zelensky stated.

He emphasized that it’s crucial for the entire world to see and understand what is really happening.

“Nearly 70 missiles, including ballistic ones. And about 150 attack drones. Unfortunately, there is significant destruction. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the rubble of residential buildings is being cleared. As of this moment, over 80 people have been injured across Ukraine. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance. Regrettably, 9 people have been killed in Kyiv,” he added, offering condolences to the families of the victims.

Zelensky said he had received reports from the military command and had instructed the Defense Minister to immediately contact international partners regarding Ukraine’s urgent air defense needs.

He also expressed gratitude to all those around the world who support Ukraine and its people.

Zelensky also stated that he is canceling part of his planned visit to the Republic of South Africa and will return to Ukraine immediately after the meeting with the President of South Africa.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the massive combined Russian assault targeted multiple regions: Kyiv and its surrounding area, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. In Kyiv alone, nine people were killed and 31 hospitalized, including five children.
