General Staff: Ukrainian forces killed or wounded 35,010 Russian troops in April

Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed or disabled 1,560 Russian artillery systems, 217 tanks, and 484 armored combat vehicles in April.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.

“According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian army suffered 35,010 irrecoverable and sanitary losses in April. This number of personnel would be enough to staff nearly three motorized rifle divisions,” the statement reads.

In the first quarter of 2025, the enemy lost 125,970 personnel killed and wounded.

In April, Ukrainian defenders destroyed or disabled 1,560 Russian artillery systems, which is roughly equivalent to 86 artillery battalions. For example, on April 17, Ukrainian forces struck 88 enemy guns. The most successful day for artillery destruction remains March 27, 2025, when Ukrainian troops destroyed 122 Russian artillery pieces. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has lost 5,604 artillery pieces either destroyed or damaged.

In April, Ukraine’s Defense Forces also destroyed or disabled 217 Russian tanks, compared to 272 in March. Since the beginning of the year, the Russians have lost 1,060 tanks destroyed and damaged. The highest daily tank loss was recorded on October 19, 2023, when Russia lost 55 tanks.

Also in April, Ukrainian forces destroyed or damaged 484 enemy armored combat vehicles.

Moreover, for the second month in a row, the Russian army continues to lose a significant number of vehicles and fuel trucks. For instance, on April 17, 2025, Russia lost 312 vehicles. In total, Ukrainian forces destroyed or damaged 4,063 enemy military vehicles in April, up from 3,545 in March.

The number of combat clashes on the front lines increased from 4,270 in March to 4,647 in April. As many as 3,274 clashes were recorded in March. Since the beginning of the year, the total number has exceeded 17,000.
