Ukrainian forces repel Russian assault conducted using civilian vehicles in Siversk sector

Units from Ukraine’s 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, “Edelweiss,” successfully repelled a Russian assault in the Siverskyi sector, in which the invaders used civilian vehicles.

According to Militarnyi , aerial reconnaissance units detected an enemy assault group moving toward the brigade’s positions.

“The enemy used Russian-made vehicles, modified with anti-drone protection and stripped of doors and trunks. These vehicles were used to advance toward the brigade’s defensive line for assault operations,” the statement read.

Ukrainian defenders swiftly deployed FPV drones against the advancing vehicles, forcing enemy infantry into chaotic retreat and allowing the brigade to eliminate the threat.

Despite attempts to take advantage of the speed of the vehicles, Russian forces lost 12 vehicles and a reconnaissance motorcycle leading the assault group. The invaders failed to reach Ukrainian defensive positions and suffered heavy personnel losses.

Militarnyi noted that this is not the first time civilian vehicles have been deployed in assaults against the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Recently, soldiers from the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Forces, along with supporting units, successfully repelled a Russian motorized assault on the village of Bahatyr. The Russian forces deployed 18 motorcycles and 10 vehicles equipped with anti-drone protection.

Additionally, a GAZ-69 – a Soviet-era off-road vehicle manufactured between 1952 and 1973 – was spotted in action during the engagement.

As reported, instead of heavy equipment, the Russian invaders are increasingly using small infantry groups with improvised equipment supported by drones.
