Vance after meeting with Zelensky: Our countries share goal of ending bloodshed

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance shared details of his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which took place at the Vatican on Sunday, May 18.

He made the statement on social media platform X, according to Ukrinform.

“Our countries share the goal of ending unnecessary bloodshed in Ukraine, and we discussed updates on the ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire and lasting peace,” Vance wrote.

He also noted that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was present at the meeting with the Ukrainian leader.

On Sunday, May 18, Zelensky and Vance met for the first time since a disagreement at the White House on February 28. The two leaders shook hands amicably ahead of the inauguration Mass for Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
