Russians shell Donetsk region, killing one civilian, injuring five others

Russian forces shelled northern parts of Donetsk region, killing one civilian and injuring five others.

This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“An investigation has been launched into the enemy shelling in northern Donetsk that resulted in one civilian being killed and five others wounded. Prosecutors are taking all necessary steps to document these cynical attacks by the occupiers against civilians,” the statement reads.

According to the report, early on May 19, 2025, Russian troops shelled the town of Siversk with barrel artillery. A shell hit a residential building, killing an 86-year-old woman.

In another incident, the town of Lyman came under fire. A civilian vehicle was struck, a 56-year-old driver and a 52-year-old passenger sustained mine-blast and shrapnel wounds. The type of weapon used is being determined.

In Kostiantynivka, a 66-year-old civilian was also wounded in an artillery strike. He sustained a mine-blast injury and a concussion while at home.

Later, Russian forces dropped a FAB-250 aerial bomb with a UMPK module on a residential area in Kramatorsk. A 62-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and contusions. Both received medical assistance.

Residential homes and a civilian car were also damaged in the affected areas.

Prosecutors are working to document these war crimes. Under the procedural guidance of the Bakhmut, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk district prosecutor’s offices, a pre-trial investigation has been launched under Articles 438(1) and 438(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violations of the laws and customs of war).

As reported earlier, on May 18, Russian forces injured two civilians in Donetsk region.
