Citizens of Georgia who hold diplomatic and service passports and enter Lithuania through the EU’s external border will need a visa.
This is reported by Delfi with reference to official sources, Ukrinform reports.
The Lithuanian government has adopted a resolution to implement the decision of the EU Council adopted in January to suspend the visa-free regime for Georgian diplomats and officials.
These officials and their family members will no longer be able to travel to the EU without visas for short-term stays. They will also no longer be eligible for the simplified and cheap procedure for applying for long-term visas.
Ordinary Georgian citizens will continue to not need visas to travel to the EU.
It is reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania is to inform the European Commission and other EU members of the adopted changes within 5 working days.
As reported by Ukrinform, in April, the period of visa-free stay for Ukrainian citizens in Georgia was reduced from three years to one.
