In the Prydniprovske sector of the front, Russian troops are attempting to push Ukraine’s Defense Forces away from the Antonivsky bridges, and in the southern island zone, they are trying to take control of the islands of Zabych, Nestryha, and Kozulyskyi.

This was reported on television by Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“At several points, the enemy has concentrated assault groups for crossing operations. These operations are typically carried out by the enemy in small infantry groups using one or several boats, as they try to dislodge our defenders from the Antonivsky bridges. They are also attempting to take control of several islands in the southern island zone, including Zabych, Nestryha, and Kozulyskyi,” said Voloshyn.

The Spokesperson emphasized that the invaders aim to establish a foothold to gradually launch landings on the right bank of the Dnipro River. However, all such attempts have been unsuccessful.

According to Voloshyn, the enemy has enough forces and means concentrated in that area to conduct such actions, but not for a large-scale, strategic crossing of the Dnipro.

“Nevertheless, the enemy will continue operating there, maintaining high activity due to the large number of forces gathered, allowing for daily assaults,” the Spokesperson added.

He reported that over the past day, the invaders did not carry out assault or crossing operations in the Prydniprovske sector but actively used drones, artillery, and conducted airstrikes.

As Ukrinform reported, there were 141 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian invaders on the front line on May 22.
